Job Description

The Interior Design Intern, with overall supervision from the Manager of Architecture or Discipline Lead, and day-to-day supervision from the Project Manager and/or Project Architect, assists in executing office and project-related design and technical tasks of simple to moderate complexity with particular focus on interior design.

Essential Job Functions
Capable of reading existing construction documents and accurately field checking architectural features on existing buildings
Possess/demonstrates the knowledge and ability to set-up project AutoCAD files per client or office standards. Accurately produces construction documents based on direction from the lead Project Architect.
Possess/demonstrates the communication skills to work with all assigned project team members, including engineering disciplines. Follows direction from the Project Manager or lead Project Architect and advises of any questions.
Familiar with Revit model creation and the development of family content.
Proficient with basic Revit modeling skills and the ability to pick-up redlines (e.g. notes, dimensions, etc.).
Assist in preparing conceptual drawings, sketches, schematic and design development drawings and final working drawings.
Assist in preparing presentations including design sketches, perspectives and renderings.
Research product information and building materials.
Help to develop space planning concepts and generate program documents.
Participate in selection of furniture systems and ancillary furnishings and accessories.
Participate in the construction administration of projects and review of submittals and samples.
Performs related duties as assigned
Education
Currently a student working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Architecture or Interior Design. Students should have completed at least (2) years of classes.
Skills/Competencies
Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Photoshop, 3D Studio Max, SketchUp and Microsoft Office. Familiar with Navisworks and ProjectWise.
Excellent written and verbal communication
Strong attention to detail
Capable of taking initiative; able to take direction
