Description

Who we are:

Steelcase was founded as an office furniture maker, and we’ve evolved into the global leader in workplace solutions. We apply our insights to the intersection of space, technology, and furniture, helping individuals and teams in leading companies around the world to have a better day at work.

We pursue innovation, strive for sustainability and develop insights in every part of our business.

Why People Choose To Work With Us

Let’s start with the cool workspace—after all, that’s our business! But that’s just one way we help people like you do their best work. We encourage curiosity and critical thinking; we embrace wellbeing in its broadest sense, and we provide coaching and inspiration at every step of your career journey.

This position is located in Grand Rapids, MI or Dallas, TX.

Who You Are

You are an experienced, field based Interior Designer. You are what we like to call a superstar designer. Not only do you have a background in Interior Design, but you also have strong presentation skills that allow you to consult and engage with our customers confidently and comfortably. You have a passion to be creative and innovate alongside others, try new things, think differently — all to help solve customer needs. You enjoy a fast-paced environment and like to have fun while doing it. Every day doesn’t look the same and you are completely okay with that. You are self-motivated and don’t need a lot of oversight and tend to learn things quickly. You are skilled in time management and prioritization.

You have a demonstrated understanding of the design process with the ability to:

Design/space plan and specify creative solutions with systems and freestanding furniture.
Discuss business issues and insights in client facing situations and to write narrative/create graphics about our applications that highlight the insights.
Conceptualize product solutions and then express them verbally through the drawing/deliverable.
Conduct analysis, synthesis, and translation. Able to take abstract information and apply insights and learnings in a way that yields creative applications.
Coordinate large projects using strong project management skills and a multi-disciplined team approach.
Work directly with customer groups during showroom visits, host informal design sessions and lead information gathering conversations.

What You Will Be Doing

As a Product Application Consultant for Wood, you are the expert in the field focused on supporting strategic sales activities relating to Wood product applications. You will be proactively impacting the selling process by providing unique wood product applications and collaborative workplace experiences that will differentiate Steelcase from the competition. You will understand product details and operational capabilities to help guide solution development. You will play a critical role with your deep product knowledge and proficient design skills to translate customer needs and big picture ideas into digital renderings. You will guide and manage the overall design consultation and strategy for Wood-specific solutions, while collaborating with our dealers, A&D firms, our regional sales team, and various functions within Steelcase to deliver the best solution for our customers. And through all this, create a streamlined, desirable experience. You make it easy (and fun) for them to work with us. And over time you become their trusted advisor. The expected outcome is that we will improve our win rate, strengthen our relationships, and provide a more valued process and solution.

You will support our Wood business nationwide. Collaboration with the larger sales team and internal cross-functional teams is imperative in this role. This requires excellent prioritization and time management skills along with the ability to work successfully with different work styles within the team.

Qualifications

This is a front-line, customer facing role that typically requires 5+ years’ experience preferred as a Corporate Interior Designer within a design firm or progressive dealer design department and a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design. Must be proficient in drawing and specification software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or CET Designer.

Your Future Team

You will be joining a rock star team of designers, thinkers, and experiential marketers. We are passionate about what we do, what (and how) we deliver solutions to our customers, and most importantly, we are passionate about each other. It truly is a family environment at Steelcase.

We invite you to submit your resume/CV through our careers page – https://careers.steelcase.com/. If we can make the application process easier through accommodation, please email us at myhr@steelcase.com.
